Impressive. I was listening to Dueling Storms and had to put off my headphones to verify that it wasn't actually thundering outside! It almost gave that "oooh" feeling when experiencing your first stereo equipment, back in the previous century... :)

It's also worth pointing out that the Princes Trust gig wasn't in 2006, as you state, but two years earlier in 2004. Something you would've thought you might remember?

Again, far be it from me to cast aspersions, but if anyone is to take your comment seriously, things like this would call it into question.

Backing singers rarely, if ever, get royalty payments on their work. They'll normally get a session fee and that's all.

So, if you are indeed the Linda Allan who sang BV on that track, maybe you would like to furnish me with some proof. If you are not, I'm not quite sure why you would make a post like this, or why I should leave you comment on here.

Now THAT'S what I call "funny".

Hi. Is that really THE Linda Allan (previously known as Linda Jardim)?

If so, then it's a pleasure to have you here.

As for the points you raise, I couldn't possibly comment. To say "reforming to play their one and only hit" is a tad harsh. Buggles were far more influential than the success of one single. True, chart success evaded them after their initial hit, but Buggles was just one part of a much bigger story.

I agree that Trevor did indeed acknowledge you and Debi as the original backing singers on that track (and a marvellous job you did too) and wouldn't know why you haven't been asked to do this gig. Only this morning, on my way into work, I was trying to decide who would be in the band next month. I had Trevor, Geoff, Luis, possible Warren Caan, maybe Hans Zimmer and you and Debi. I also thought guest appearances might include Thomas Dolby.

But I do have to ask this. If you have never received a single penny in royalties for this work, why did you agree to do the Princes Trust gig? Surely even back then, you wouldn't have received royalties and this apparent grudge would've existed back then? Furthermore, would your contract back in 1979 have stipulated royalty payments or would it have been (more likely) a single fee?

Quite what is funny, I'm not sure and if course, if you ARE the real Linda Allan, surely this is something you should be taking up with Trevor himself?

If you are Linda, I hope that I have not offended you but do find it strange that you chose this blog to raise this concern, and even when I have made two posts specifically about the Buggles reformation, you didn't choose to post it on either of them.

Feel free to contact me in private if you wish. I'd be more than happy to speak to you.

Regards,

Failed Muso.

So, the Buggles are reforming to play their one and only hit, Video Killed the Radio Star, as well as all the other tracks on The Age Of Plastic album. How could that be, when the two female singers on the original recording (and confirmed as such by Trevor Horn at the live Prince of Wales Trust concert at Wembley Arena in 2006) haven't been asked to do the gig? And that's on top of not having received one penny in royalties. Ever. Funny, isn't it?
