Event EZbus – For disillusioned users…

A chance piece of experimentation this morning led to me discovering that my Event EZbus mixer/audio interface/control surface, which I had given up on being anything more than an expensive doorstop and capable hardware mixer for many years, actually worked pretty bloody well with my iMac!

A bit of Googling led me to find all of the last known firmware, driver and manual files for it, and so, for the benefit of other EZbus users, set adrift by Event all those years ago, I’ve created a page that contains all of these files and a bit of my personal history with the EZbus, along with some pictures and specifications of this pioneering, yet fataly flawed initial foray into the multi-purpose audio interface that we now take for granted in the world of digital audio and music production.

The link is at the top pf this page in the banner, or you can simply click here.

One slight mistake. You don’t need the driver software loaded for the EZbus to act as a control surface. The EZ bus outputs midi. Any software capable of learning can read the midi which you can assign to any function you’d like. I am doing this with reaper right now. Of course it would be nice to use the software to customize the device so that the screen indicator on the EZ bus would match up better with the functionality your preferred app has learned, but most of the time I just use it for location and levels.
