Hollow Sun #09 released for Alesis Fusion

Yet another pack of free sounds for the Alesis Fusion :o) [Link in title]

Another significant addition to Fusion’s ever expanding sound library is now available featuring a variety of vintage keyboard samples plus a good range of VA synth sounds plus a raft of sounds and sound effects that you would only normally expect to hear emanating from some serious modular monster of yesteryear.

Programs 1-8 feature sampled material from legendary vintage keyboards.

Programs 9-24 feature Fusion’s VA synth to re-create some classic sounds from a well-known single DCO polysynth. The synth’s architecture has been replicated as closely as possible:

Single Oscillator (with phase-locked sub-oscillator) > Filter > Amplifier > Chorus with a single ADSR envelope and a sinewave LFO for modulation purposes.

Like the original, it is capable of producing a surprisingly wide range of sounds. The only concession made is the addition of a hint of reverb. In all the programs, Assignable Knob 3 can be used to remove the reverb. Knob 4 allows you to vary the chorus rate much like the switched chorus settings on the original.

Programs 25-32 make use of Fusion’s powerful VA synth to create sounds that are normally only heard coming from large modulars of yesteryear, not a modern workstation! In fact, many of them are inspired by pioneers of the early days of synthesis such as Morton Subotnick, Wendy Carlos and Isao Tomita. As such, many are atonal and somewhat abstract but can no doubt find a place in your work. Admittedly, these are not sounds for everyday use in mainstream music and are perhaps more suited to ‘experimental’ or abstract music but if nothing else, they show the power available in Fusion’s VA synth and highlight the anti-aliased audio oscillators very effectively.
