About Me

Failed Muso is me, Rob Puricelli. Originally a drummer, I was obsessed with music technology from a very early age, at a time when music technology itself was going through its difficult teenage phase. After having numerous bad experiences playing with bands (and dealing with hefty ego’s), I opted for a more technical approach, although I do miss playing live. I have found a niche in my role as a music technologist which sees me working in a number of areas within the music industry as well as educational and entertainment roles

I currently host a weekly livestream on YouTube for the Pro Synth Network, an online collective of synth professionals and enthusiasts. We regularly have high profile guests ranging from established, platinum selling artists and producers to developers, manufacturers and other members of the synthesizer community.

As part of the Sound On Sound podcast team, I produce content that has seen me interview many individuals from the world of electronic music technology, from performers to inventors and programmers. I also write reviews for the print and web versions of the magazine

I am part of the Synthesizer team over at Gearnews.com where I write news, reviews and opinion led pieces on all things synth-related.

I also deliver seminars and lectures to Universities, schools and electronic music gatherings such as SynthFest U.K., Keele University, the University of Creative Arts and the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford.

I also write numerous articles for this website, along with contributions to others, such as SuperDeluxeEdition.com and Indie Rewind.

Other related activities include demonstrating gear for the likes of IK Multimedia, as well as beta testing & sound design for Reason Studios, Alesis, Akai, GForce Software, Hollow Sun and many more.
