A heartfelt thankyou

If I’m totally honest, if you were to ask me how many people read Failed Muso, I’d say about 3. Seriously. Matrixsynth and GammaGoblin plus no more than one random person passing through. That’s about the sum of it.

Why do I do it if I think I have such a small readership ? Well, two reasons, really. One, because it helps me remember stuff and also to talk about it and not care. Secondly, because I think the 1 or 2 people who do read this might be vaguely interested.

Also, I talk to myself. A LOT !! I find it very therapeutic and it helps me make sense of stuff. I can argue my points, think of counter arguments, thrash out answers and practice speeches. Of course, I do this in my own private way (usually in the car, sometimes in the loo !!) and very few people know I do it. The blog is simply an extension of that.

Anyway, as my regular reader(s) may have seen, I recently posted some of my own videos on YouTube, and after setting my status as a “Musician”, I started to see various stats. For example, yesterday, I was the 46th most viewed Musician on YouTube in the UK. Today I’m 51st ! Also, today, I’m the 10th most subscribed Musician. There are other stats but those impressed me !

I then simply Googled “Failed Muso” and was pleasantly surprised to see me & my blog talked about in various music forums, all of it very complimentary. I was also tagged on Technorati, StumbleUpon and various other places. I really had no idea that Failed Muso was reaching that many people !

I’d like to quote one comment from a user called Mistrust on MTM Studio Net, the forum for Music Technolgy Magazine, as it was really quite nice…

That pretty much sums up why I do this. And I was genuinely touched.

I kept searching for some slagging off, but as yet haven’t found any, and knowing the net as I do, I’m very surprised !

I also found my video’s popping up on NME’s site !!

And I am deeply grateful for all of you who have me on their blogroll’s. Please do tell me so I can at least return the favour :o)

I guess I was just being naive, but I really didn’t think many people bothered with this place, especially as I can be a bit sporadic with the posts, due to my job keeping me away from home a lot and not always having a decent internet connection on my travels. But my ego has been truly massaged and I am humbled by all the kind words that have been said and the compliments paid. It does make it all worth while and I will endeavour to maintain the content and quality in the future.
