Blur Announce Details of Their New Single
A short while back, Blur announced two new tracks had been recorded, their first for many years, and with the full original line up that made such a triumphant return last year for a series of gigs culminating with two gigs in Hyde Park, captured on the superb rockumentary, “No Distance Left To Run”.
And today they announced details of the first of these, entitled “Fool’s Day”, to be released in support of Record Store Day on the 17th April 2010. At the moment, only 1000 copies of single sided vinyl will be pressed and sold exclusively at these independent record stores. There have been no announcements as to whether a wider release will be made in more modern formats, but expect to see these fly out of the store on Saturday and I’m sure a few will end up changing hands on eBay by dinner time! 😉

1000 COPIES OF FOOL’S DAY ON VINYL THIS SATURDAYFool’s Day a new song from Blur will be released on a limited edition one-sided 7 inch vinyl single on April 17, 2010 through Parlophone Records.
Recorded in London earlier this month, Fool’s Day is the first song 4 members of Blur have recorded together since Battery In Your Leg from the album Think Tank (2003).
Fool’s Day is available in the UK at independent music retailers participating in Record Store Day. 1000 copies have been pressed and will be available as independent record shops around the UK open their doors on Saturday morning.

The aim of Record Store Day is to highlight the continuing contribution of indie stores to music. “This release just shows how big Record Store Day has become and I for one can’t wait to be in the thick of the action come Saturday morning” Spencer Hickman on behalf of Record Store Day.
Reports in the NME today also state that their management and label are desperate to get them to record again, and I for one would love to hear the fruits of that labour.
