Happy DXmas from Failed Muso

I’m not one for making a big deal over Xmas, but that’s another story altogether. However, I do enjoy this final week of the year because it allows you to reflect on the year gone by and, where possible, say thank you to those who saw it through with you, helped you, guided you, gave time, effort, love and sometimes free stuff! 😉

I’ve been writing this blog for many years now. Sometimes I post like I have blog-arrhoea, and sometimes I am sure some of you wonder whether I will ever post again. Suffice to say, I try and put something up as often as I can (Oooh err, more tea, vicar?) and I hope that it educates, informs, entertains, enrages or at least provokes some kind of emotional response. Looking at my blog stats, it seems that a good number of you come back on a daily basis, and many others visit this place quite a bit. I am always amazed that even one person visits. This blog started as just something for me to use to vent, to pass some time and express my views and opinions without censorship. It’s turned into something a little bit more. For me, it has enabled new friendships, created wonderful partnerships, forged new endeavours and collaborations and generally made me altogether less ‘failed’ than the title of this blog suggests.

And for that, I am truly grateful. And it is those people that have helped, assisted or contributed in some way that I’d like to thank this year. You, dear reader, will always be the first person I thank, but I think that this year, I should acknowledge those who suffer numerous emails, phone calls and general badgering from me, and who always come up trumps for me, giving me content and information that help me write the crap I do.

So, I knocked up a simple, cheesy Xmas type song and soon found that the bell-like qualities of the Yamaha DX7 were incredibly festive. Knowing how much hate and vitriol the aforementioned keyboard generates, I felt that it should get some much needed love too. Sadly, I don’t have a DX7 here, but I do have Propellerhead’s superb emulation, the PX7 Rack Extension for Reason, and, using original Yamaha DX patches, I knocked up this little attempt at a festive ditty and overlaid some words and pictures by way of saying thank you to as many people as I could in four and a half minutes. I am sure I have missed someone, and if I have, please know that it wasn’t intentional and I value your input as much as the rest.

But in the meantime, enjoy my Xmas song and have a very merry DXmas and a happy, healthy and delightful new year!
