Hollow Sun

I know most will probably already know of this wondrous site, but I feel duty bound to plug it yet again.

Hollow Sun is the bastard love child of Steve Howell, one time Akai sound designer and the man behind some of the most iconic and influential instruments of our time. He has lovingly assembled a wealth of samples from a vast range of mainly vintage instruments, written detailed and amusing histories of the instruments and assembled them in ready to go packages for Akai S5/6000 or Z Series samplers.

But don’t worry if you use one of these shabby software samplers. You can still import the .wav files for use in these lightweights (Oh, could I be starting one of those legendary “hard Vs soft” debates ??) and just construct your own program settings.

You will also find on there some contributions from me, including samples from my Korg Prophecy and Yamaha CS1x.

You will also find some damned awesome Sample CD’s for sale that Steve has lovingly created. I personally recommend the Yamaha FS1r CD. Check out the demo here.
