The demise of the KvR forum

Ok, it’s not really a demise, as such. The place is still going, and is as popular as ever, but I have been visiting with much less frequency over this year and the reason is the unmitigated beligerence and persistent trolling, flaming and baiting that goes on there.

When I first joined, it was a great forum to discuss all things soft about music. I discovered many soft synths, FX and artists that have been great, but over the last year or so, it has become everything it set out not to be, with ignorant, vile members posting for the sake of a fight, baiting the trolls who gladly rise to that bait and now many of the discussions are populated by imbecilic, illierate morons who think that they have built up the home equivalent of Abbey Road with illegal cracked warez and then expect everyone to love their output and opinion as if it were handed down from up on high.

It’s a terrible shame, but certainly not exclusive to KvR. This seems to happen in almost every music forum I visit. The one thing that I do find, is that this happens a lot less on forums dedicated to hardware, although they do have their moments.
