The Official Fairlight Nano-Composition Competition!

This just in from Fairlight Instruments HQ….

As production of the Fairlight CMI-30A and the iPhone and iPad apps nears, we are looking for a few seconds of music that will play on start-up.

The goal is to make the shortest ‘sequence’ possible that portrays the iconic Fairlight sounds of eighties. Think 2-10 seconds, although go for more or less if you think it’s warranted.

Anyone can pour out their musical ideas into a 3 minute pop song or a 20 minute symphony but it takes real skill to distil your ideas down to a few seconds of perfection.

The creator of the winning Fairlight Start-up sound will win their choice of any three items of merchandise from http://www.cafepress.com.au/fairlightinstruments and more importantly be immortalised by suitable credits.

Expect some “Merit awards” as well.

The start-up sound can be created using the iPhone or iPad app (if you are on the beta program) or using whatever “fake” CMI libraries you want. In the latter case, we will redo the sound using genuine CMI sounds should your work win.

The closing date for your submissions (emailed to admin@fairlightinstruments.com.au as a sound file of your choice) is midnight on 14th Feb 2011 AEST. Feel free to submit before then, maximum three submissions per entrant. By submitting your work, you accept that all submissions become the exclusive property of Fairlight Instruments Pty Ltd.

This is your chance to become part of Fairlight history. Good luck!
