SOS Podcast – David Vorhaus

Late last year, Sound On Sound invited me to a weekend of electronic music shenanigans in London that included a day hanging out with British electronic music legend David Vorhaus in his North London studio.
Aside from the obvious buzz of meeting such a luminary, and witnessing some of his amazing inventions in action, I had the honour of being able to talk with David about a number of things, including our mutual appreciation of the Fairlight CMI, something which David was very much an influential part of in terms of creating new sounds and using it in his productions.
What I didn’t realise at the time was that this cold, December day would lead to not only a new venture in my life in music technology, but that I would make a new, and dear friend.
The pandemic has meant that further excursions to the home of the M.A.N.I.A.C., Kaleidophon and the first ever Fairlight CMI in the U.K. have had to be postponed, but I am hoping that this will change very soon!
I hope you enjoy this podcast! There are many more to come. And if you did enjoy it, please do the whole “Like, Share & Subscribe” thing!

Hi !
I know this might be a strange request but I am a distant cousin of David’s grandfather, Louis Vorhaus. His grandfather sponsored my parent’s immigration to the US post war.
I am also a published kids book author. I would love to get in touch with David. I’m writing a middle grade novel that touches on my childhood. Would you be able to ask him for his email and I’d get in touch?
