UPDATE: Fairlight CMI Series III – Previously owned by Pet Shop Boys

You may recall a while back a post about a Series III Fairlight CMI that appeared on eBay which, according to its owner, used to belong to the Pet Shop Boys. It had a few problems, but seemed to be retrievable. At the time, I wasn’t sure if it was the same system as the second one mentioned in this post.

Well, it didn’t sell, so the seller decided to have it completely refurbished by Peter Wielk at Horizontal Productions in Australia (sadly, there is no Horizontal Productions website), the absolute go to guys when it comes to fixing Fairlights. And now it is back on eBay and….

I’M GOING TO SEE IT!!

Well, hopefully! I’ve been discussing it with the seller, and all being well, I’ll be taking a trip to it’s location and filming the whole shebang! That is, of course, if it doesn’t sell before I get there! Sadly though, it won’t be me that’s buying it as, since it’s restoration, the value has shot up and the price is now a cool £6,995. Worth it, I have no doubt, but WAY out of my affordability range!

So, watch this space as I try to arrange this very special road trip and hopefully capture the magic of this legendary piece of music history. In the meantime, check out these pics…
